Most GTR (artificially flooded timber) are not producing the amount of acorns they produced when the green tree reservoir was first created.  Yearly flooding and the flood duration of the GTR have changed the site characteristics of the GTR, making it less suitable for the desired tree species (red oak species).  These conditions will cause stress on your trees reducing the vigor of your desired tree species.  Vigor is highly correlated to acorn production and the overall health of the tree
(LOW VIGOR = LOW ACORN PRODUCTION OR MORTALITY).  Once a red oak dies, there is a very small chance that it will be replaced by another red oak species unless some drastic disturbance occurs in your woods.  Southern Forestry and Wildlife, LLC offers a complete turn-key restoration service for your GTR.
